Vivette + Darren | London Engagement

May 8th, 2012

Vivette is from London, Darren is from Nova Scotia and I’m from Newmarket and yet somehow Korea is our common denominator. During our 4 years at the University of Western Ontario, where we roamed the same buildings and partied at the same places, never once did Vivette and I bump into each other. Instead we would meet in Korea. Viv was my partying/shopping/mountain climbing buddy and it always makes me laugh so hard thinking of the stories that go along with those adventures. When Darren and Viv met, I had already left Korea but I also happened to randomly be in Darren’s hometown of Antigonish, Nova Scotia. Now here we are, who knew we’d all eventually end up in the same place at the same time.

When I first started photographing weddings, I said I would never do a friend’s wedding. Well I broke that rule real early and when I do shoots like this, I realize how much I actually love photographing a friend. I love seeing my friends happy and these shoots are always more of a hang out then anything else. Vivette is awesome, Darren is kickass and I’m so happy and honoured to be photographing their wedding.

Kelly + Brad | Newmarket Engagement

First official shoot of the new year! We were pretty lucky and had just missed the -16c day when we did this shoot last Sunday. Kelly & Brad chose a great spot for their engagement shoot and I think their dog Colby enjoyed the shoot as well! Why is it that dogs never get tired of finding a stick? LOL. I had a great time shooting all three of them but I realize I’m extremely out of shape. While Kelly and Brad casually strolled, I huffed and puffed and I was lucky there was no wind to blow me over lol.  I’m looking forward to getting back into the wedding season with all the lifting, squatting and running around.

These two are so sweet and I’m happy they’re the first wedding of the year! Yay to March, Kelly & Brad’s wedding, warmer weather and longer days!

Krystal + Seth | Barrie Engagement

December 5th, 2011

Two interesting facts about this engagement session: 1) They were the first couple to get infront of my new Contax film camera. 2) Krystal and Seth are probably the most camera shy people I have ever met. I don’t know about you but by looking at the photos, I’d say the camera, film and early morning [...]

I don’t know about you but by looking at the photos, I’d say the camera, film and early morning sun loved them. I really had a blast shooting these guys and it was extra fun being able to use my Contax 645 film camera for part of the shoot. The camera is a beast to carry around but it’s well worth it! The first few images and a few of the detail photos were shot with film. With a little patience, the right light and composition, you get beautiful images straight out of the camera. The naturally beautiful, soft, warm images bring you to the moment the photo was taken. In these photos you can sense the calmness of the water, the quickly dissipating morning fog and the rising sun that’s warming up everything in its path. And the scene only gets better as two really good looking people stand amidst it all. Thank you Seth and Krystal for being such fantastic subjects. You two are obviously not as awkward as you think in front of the camera! You guys are going to be “that super cute couple in those wedding photos” very soon  ;)

Enjoy!

Kristen + Jerome | Toronto Engagement

November 30th, 2011

Fun, silly and clearly in love. It was easy photographing Jerome and Kristen and we definitely had some good laughs that morning. Nothing gets a photoshoot started like a good sears pose (see the second graffiti shot) and Jerome seemed to enjoy the see saw quite a bit! We also found some colourful locations and [...]

Fun, silly and clearly in love. It was easy photographing Jerome and Kristen and we definitely had some good laughs that morning. Nothing gets a photoshoot started like a good sears pose (see the second graffiti shot) and Jerome seemed to enjoy the see saw quite a bit! We also found some colourful locations and people while roaming around Kensington Market.  You gotta love Toronto! I hope the hat lady wasn’t too mad about us trying on her products lol. She has a pretty good selection of animal hats so if you’re looking for one, check out her stand somewhere around that area.

These guys were super cool and if this engagement session was any indication of what’s to come, the wedding day should be a hoot! Yeah I said hoot, that’s how awesome it’s going to be. Looking forward to August 11th, 2012!
